ICAN Successfully Conducts New Students' Orientation Program

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) successfully organized the New Students' Orientation Program on 31 Ashar 2083 (15 July 2026) at the Nepal Police Club, Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu. The program was conducted in two separate sessions to accommodate the large number of newly admitted students.
The orientation program witnessed an overwhelming response, with approximately 1,226 participants attending from across the country. The participants included students attending physically at the venue, 166 participants from ICAN Branch Offices, 32 participants who joined through the ICAN App, and students who participated online via Zoom, reflecting the Institute's commitment to ensuring wider accessibility and inclusive participation.
The inauguration sessions of both the morning and afternoon programs commenced with welcome remarks by CA Bimal Dangol, Executive Director, ICAN. Addressing the gathering, CA Nil Bahadur Saru Magar, President, ICAN, congratulated the newly admitted students and highlighted the growing importance of the Chartered Accountancy profession in national development and the global economy. He encouraged students to remain dedicated, disciplined, and committed to excellence throughout their academic and professional journey.
The motivation and learning session featured inspiring presentations by recently qualified CAP III students-Mr. Amrit Chapagain during the morning session and Mr. Shashanka Kandel during the afternoon session--shared their personal journeys, learning experiences, and valuable insights with the new students.
Participants also benefited from experience-sharing sessions delivered by CA Prabin Kumar Jha, Vice President of SAFA and Immediate Past President of ICAN, and CA Hari Kumar Silwal, Council Member, ICAN, who emphasized the professional responsibilities, ethical values, and diverse career opportunities available to Chartered Accountants.
The program featured distinguished keynote speakers on career prospects. During the morning session, CA Maha Prasad Adhikari, Former Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, shared valuable insights on leadership, professional growth, and emerging career opportunities for Chartered Accountants. In the afternoon session, CA Devendra Raman Khanal, Chief Executive Officer of Rastriya Banijya Bank, addressed students on career development, leadership, and the evolving role of Chartered Accountants in Nepal's financial sector.
The New Students' Orientation Program marks the beginning of the academic journey for ICAN's newly enrolled students and reflects the Institute's continued commitment to producing competent, ethical, and globally competitive Chartered Accountants who will contribute meaningfully to the economic development of Nepal.
