ICAN Organizing Nationwide Pre-Budget Consultations to Shape Nepal’s Fiscal Future

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN), the national regulator of the accounting profession, has launched a series of comprehensive Pre-Budget Interaction Programs across the country. These sessions are designed to gather expert insights and sector-specific recommendations for the Federal Budget of the Government of Nepal for Fiscal Year 2083/84.

As part of its statutory mandate to advise the government on economic and financial policies, ICAN has mobilized a dedicated taskforce to coordinate these dialogues. The programs span seven major economic hubs—including Biratnagar, Birgunj, Chitwan, Dhangadhi, Butwal Pokhara, and Nepalgunj—targeting critical regional priorities such as agribusiness, tourism, cross-border trade, and export-oriented manufacturing.

The initiative will culminate in Kathmandu (April 17–19, 2026) with three thematic sessions focusing on the Financial Sector and Investment Ecosystem, Accounting Profession and Practice Issues, and Production and Infrastructure Sector. These flagship events will be broadcast live on ICAN’s official Facebook page to ensure wider stakeholder engagement.

Each session features a panel of distinguished experts followed by an open-floor discussion, ensuring that the final recommendations are practical, independent, and evidence based. ICAN will compile these findings into a comprehensive report for the Ministry of Finance, serving as a credible roadmap for economic development.

Through this nationwide outreach, ICAN reaffirms its commitment to upholding public trust and transforming economies, ensuring that the national budget reflects a balanced and professional perspective to foster sustainable economic growth.
