Meeting with Report on the Observance of Standards and Codes (ROSC) Team

Webinar on Members’ Consultation on “Certification Course on Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI)”

The Institute hosted a Webinar on Members’ Consultation on “Certification Course on Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI)” on 16^th February 2026. The Webinar was organized in the context of development of Certification course on Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. And the Webinar was intended to discuss the probable use case scenario to be incorporated in the certification course. The Webinar was facilitated by Mr. Ujwal Koirala, Consultant and CA. Madhu Pokharel, Member, IT Committee, ICAN. Altogether 121 members attended Webinar.

ICAN Quiz and Public Speaking Contest 2026

The Institute organized ICAN Quiz and Public Speaking Contest 2026 for CAP III level students on 28^th January 2026 at the ICAN Head Office, Satdobato, Lalitpur. Altogether, 24 students applied for participation in ICAN Quiz Contest, and 12 students were selected for the Public Speaking Contest based on evaluation of essay submitted by them. Publication of Result of Chartered Accountancy (CA) and CA Membership Examination for ACCAs-December 2025

The Institute has published the results of the Chartered Accountancy Examination – December 2025 for CA Foundation, CAP I, CAP II, and CAP III levels conducted from 1^st to 15^th December 2025. The results were published on February 15, 2025, as per the Rule 17 of Nepal Chartered Accountants Regulation 2061. Altogether, 6,240 students appeared in the CA examination out of 6,954 students who applied for different levels of examination. Details of students who applied, appeared, passed (single or both group) and qualified in different levels of CA Examination are presented below:

Moreover, 4 students applied for CA Membership Examination for ACCA out of which 3 students appeared in the examination. And one candidate passed group I and another one passed in group II examination.

28^th Batch of General Management and Communication Skill (GMCS) Training

The Institute organized 28^th Batch of GMCS training from 23^rd February 2026 till 15^th March 2026. The GMCS training was attended by total 103 participants. This training aims to enhance communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills while providing an understanding of the contemporary business environment and career opportunities. The program has been designed to help students prepare for professional careers by equipping them with the necessary skills to adapt to a competitive business environment. Participation in this training is mandatory for obtaining ICAN membership.

11^th Batch of Pre-Articleship Orientation Program

The 11^th batch of Pre-Articleship Orientation Program for the students who have qualified in CAP II level examination held in December 2025 was organized in German Homes Hotel, Madhyapur Thimi on 21^st February 2026. The purpose of this orientation program was to enhance the skills and capabilities of students going to pursue three years articleship training by providing proper orientation and training on personality development, communication skills, professional behavior and culture at audit firms and clients’ offices.

The training started with the welcome remarks of CA Bimal Dangol, Executive Director, ICAN and the session in the training was facilitated by CA Prabin Kumar Jha, Immediate Past President, ICAN; CA Hari Kumar Silwal, Council Member; CA Sanjeev Dhakal, practicing Chartered Accountant; Mr. Rajan Koirala, founder of Mindset Club and CA Asmita Dhakal, Joint Director, ICAN. The training was attended by total 231 students physically and 23 virtually.

Online Revision Class

The online revision classes for June 2026 Examination and CA Membership Examination for March 2026 has commenced from 20^th February 2026.

Career Counseling Program

A series of career counseling programs was organized by Nepalgunj, Birgunj and Dhangadhi Branch in February 2026. The primary objective of the CA Career Counseling Program was to provide comprehensive insights into the CA course structure, eligibility, and examination process, highlight career prospects and job opportunities, offer guidance on skill development and professional ethics, and address students' queries regarding the CA profession.

CA Scholarship for Fiscal Year 2025/26

The Institute has published the selection list of the CA Scholarship for Fiscal Year 2025/26. The Institute has provided Scholarship amounting to NPR 41,95,750 to deserving students under three different categories as presented below as per ICAN’s Scholarship Procedure, 2063 (First Amendment 2078).

Interaction with Accredited Academies

The Institute organized an interaction program between the officials and representatives of accredited academies on 16^th March 2026 at ICAN premises. The interaction program was focused on December 2026 student enrollment, perspectives of accredited academies on the new CA syllabus, and other related issues. Total seven representatives of three accredited academies participated in program.

Engaging Members and Collaboration with Stakeholders

Press Conference for the Official Announcement of the Global Accounting Initiative in Nepal (GAIN)

The Institute conducted the Press Conference for the official announcement of the Global Accounting Initiative in Nepal (GAIN) project on 7^th January 2026 at the Everest Hotel, Kathmandu. The program marked a significant step toward positioning Nepal as a trusted global hub for accounting and finance outsourcing. During the event, ICAN unveiled the GAIN Project, released its promotional video, and highlighted key initiatives including the Accounting Outsourcing Web Portal aimed at strengthening professional capacity and expanding global opportunities. The program started with the opening remarks of CA Nil Bahadur Saru Magar, President ICAN whereby, CA Santosh Bista delivered a presentation of GAIN project. Thereafter a formal press conference was held to answer the queries of the media personnel.

Conference on Global Accounting and Finance Outsourcing

The Institute organized one day conference on Global Accounting and Finance Outsourcing on 31^st January 2026 in Kathmandu with the objective to provide comprehensive insights into global trends in accounting and finance outsourcing, regional and international experiences, emerging opportunities and challenges, and Nepal’s growing potential in the areas of Accounting and Finance Outsourcing. The conference commenced with the opening remarks of CA Nil Bahadur Saru Magar, President, ICAN. The conference had total three technical sessions as below:

First Session on “Global Accounting & Finance Outsourcing: Trends, Regional Insights and Emerging Global Opportunities”

The session focused that Government stability, ease of doing business, language proficiency, depth of talent, professionalism and cost factors are the key drivers in outsourcing market. And, with investment in technology adaptation, skills development, strategic leadership and shifting from traditional bookkeeping to new age accounting system such as; Robotic Process Automation, AI automation tools etc. Nepal can position itself as a competitive player in global accounting & finance outsourcing market.

The session was Chaired by CA Nil Bahadur Saru Magar, President, ICAN whereby, Mr. David Hill, Director of Remote Services, NOW CFO delivered a Keynote Speech on the theme. Mr. Saroj Sapkota, Partner, AGK Partners; CA Dhavalkumar Deepak Thakkar, Outsourcing Partner & Head- Center of Excellence, JHS Consulting and CA Raju Gajurel, CEO, Sterling Wells were the panelist in the session.

Second session on “BPO, KPO and IT Outsourcing in Nepal: Discussing Trends, Economic Impact and Policy Interventions”

The session focused on existing policies, challenges, initiatives and way forwards for BPO/KPO sector in Nepal. The discussion on the season concluded that collaboration from Government, Multilateral Agencies, policy reforms and stability can foster the growth of BPO/KPO sector in Nepal. During the session, CA Ananda Raj Sharma Wagle made a presentation that GAIN Project aims to generate over 150,000 jobs and more than USD 6 Billion in foreign currency earnings annually over the next decade.

The session was Chaired by Mr. Janardan Baral, Associate Editor and Head of Business and Economic Bureau, OnlineKhabar.com. CA Ananda Raj Sharma Wagle, Vice-President, ICAN delivered a paper presentation on the theme whereby, Mr. Gobinda Raj Acharya, Under Secretary, Ministry of Finance; CA Bishwa Raj Basaula, Financial Management Specialist, the World Bank and Mr. Gaurav Raj Pandey, President, NAS IT were the panelist in the session.

Third session on “Starting Small, Thinking Global: Preparing Nepalese Accounting Firms for International Outsourcing Engagements”

The session was focused on sharing of real-life experience by professionals engaged in outsourcing business in Nepal. The panel discussion concluded that, outsourcing firms in Nepal shall focus on delivering specialized service to clients rather than focusing on bookkeeping and routine services delivery and human resources and work ethics / culture development for sustainable operations.

The session was Chaired by CA Umesh Raj Pandeya, Council Member, ICAN; whereby, CA Pradip Aryal, General Secretary ACAN; Mr. Rabin Katwal-Head, ACCA Nepal; CA Shankar Thapa-Director, Four Symmetrons; Mr. Ashish Acharya-CEO, Investor Friendly, CPA and Mr. Ganesh Dahal-CEO, Focus Your Finance were the panelist in the session.

CA Bimal Dangol concluded the program with the closing remarks. The conference was attended by total 159 participants.

Training on “An Overview of Financial Statements and Audit Report”

The Institute organized a training session on “An Overview of Financial Statements and Audit Report” on 7^th January 2026 in technical collaboration with Nepal Association of Financial Journalists (NAFIJ). The training was facilitated by CA Hem Kumar Kafle, Council Member and was attended by various media dignitaries and representatives from different media houses. The training aims to provide an in-depth discussion on the structure, interpretation, and practical relevance of financial statements and audit reports.

New Members Welcome Program

The Institute organized New Members Welcome Program on 9^th January 2026 in ICAN premises located at Satdobato, Lalitpur. The objective of the program was to welcome new members into the CA fraternity of ICAN and facilitated networking amongst the members. The program started with the opening remarks of CA Nil Bahadur Saru Magar, President ICAN followed by a technical session on "Opportunities in Accounting Outsourcing for Nepalese CAs” facilitated by CA Shankar Thapa. In the program a “Congratulation Certificate” along with token of love was given to new members.

Altogether, 131 new members who have taken membership from ICAN from 27^th June 2025 to 6^th January 2026 were invited to attend the program. Besides, the program was attended by Vice-President, Council Members and Executive Director of ICAN.

8^th Chartered Accountants’ Convocation Ceremony

The Institute organized the 8^th Chartered Accountants’ convocation on 30^th January 2026 in Kathmandu. The objective of the program was to distribute Convocation Certificate to recently qualified Chartered Accountants from ICAN who have obtained ICAN membership after 19^th January 2025.

The program started with opening remarks of President, CA Nil Bahadur Saru Magar. Hon’ble Auditor General Mr. Toyam Raya addressed the program as Chief Guest. During the program, the Chief Guest and Guest distributed Merit Certificate and Medal to rank holder of CAP I, CAP II and CAP III students securing highest marks in different subject(s) in December 2024 and June 2025 Examination. Similarly, certificate and cash prize to winner, 1^st runner up and 2^nd runner up of ICAN Quiz and Public Speaking Contest 2026 were also awarded during the program.

Glimpse of 8^th CA Convocation Ceremony

In the program, New Chartered Accountants members participating in the Convocation Ceremony were distributed Convocation Certificate along with oath taking by the Chief Guest Hon’ble Auditor General Mr. Toyam Raya. Altogether, 118 newly qualified CA members from ICAN were convocated in the ceremony out of total 141 eligible members. Likewise, Dr. Prakash Kumar Shrestha, Vice-Chairman, National Planning Commission delivered a Keynote speech in the program.

Post Qualifications Course on Information System Audit (ISA-3.0)

The Institute conducted a Post-Qualification course on Information System Audit (ISA-3.0) in technical collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. The post qualification course was conducted virtually from 9^th to 26^th February 2026 and was attended by 27 members.

Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Training

The Institute with the objective of enhancing the capacity of Members of the Institute in various contemporary issues organized a three day Continuing Professional Education (CPE) training from 11^th to 13^th February 2026 in the Head Office of Institute. The CPE covered topics related to Expected Credit Loss, SSF’s social security program, Labor Law’s requirements for auditor’s consideration, special considerations in the audit of NPOs, audit materiality and sampling techniques, audit opinion on different scenarios and Key Accounting Adjustments introduced by NFRS for SMEs course and its applicability as Chartered Accountant in Nepal. The CPE was facilitated by CA Sanjeev Dhakal, CA Bidur Luitel, CA Mahesh Ghimire, CA Mahesh Gyawali, CA Bikesh Madhikarmi, CA Shankar Thapa and CA Prabin Baral. Altogether, 54 members attended the CPE program.

Two days’ training on Standardized Financial Format and Audit Manual for Community Schools

The Institute organized two days training on Standardized Financial Format and Audit Manual for Community Schools at Madhesh, Lumbini and Karnali Province from 10^th to 25^th March 2026.

The Training was conducted under the project “Supporting Public Financial Management Facility for British Embassy Kathmandu (BEK)”, implemented by the Institute under the consultancy agreement with Alinea International Limited signed on 7^th August 2025. The objective of this training is to enhance the professional capacity of auditors involved in school audit. The program aims to strengthen audit quality, ensure uniformity in reporting practices, and promote transparency, accountability, and improved financial management at the school and local government levels.

1^st Campus Placement Program

The Institute organized its 1^st Campus Placement Program on 20^th March 2026 at ICAN premises. The objective of campus placement program was to support newly qualified Chartered Accountant members in beginning their professional careers, while providing employers with access to competent, ethical, and technically skilled finance professionals.

Altogether, 92 candidates registered for participation in campus placement programs whereby 56 candidates were shortlisted for interview. Likewise, following 18 companies were registered as employers for the program.

Glimpse of 1^st Campus Placement Program

Prior to holding the campus placement program, the Institute also organized an orientation program for newly qualified CA members who registered their name for participation in the campus placement program. The orientation program was organized on 17^th March 2026 at ICAN premises and was attended by 33 participants. The program began with the welcome remarks of CA Umesh Raj Pandeya, Coordinator Campus Placement Program and Council Member of ICAN followed by opening remarks by President CA Nil Bahadur Saru Magar. The program had a technical session on "Techniques for successful interview, Corporate Expectation from CAs and from Qualified CA to corporate ready professional” facilitated by Mr. Sohan Babu Khatri, Management Consultant, corporate trainer and educator. Likewise, a knowledge sharing session on “How to present with professional confidence” was delivered by CA Aman Uprety, Council Member and member of Campus Placement Taskforce. The program was concluded by closing remarks of CA Hari Kumar Silwal, Council Member and member of Campus Placement Taskforce.

Agreement between ICAN and Lions Club of Kathmandu CA

The Institute signed an agreement with the Lions Club of Kathmandu CA to provide a scholarship for one Foundation Level student each year, supporting academically deserving yet financially constrained aspirants. The agreement was signed on 11^th March 2026 and shall be effective for five years.

The handover of agreement took place on 23^rd March, 2026, in ICAN premises located at Satdobato, Lalitpur. On the occasion, District Governor Milan Babu Malla expressed his gratitude and highlighted the potential for broader collaboration in the future. ICAN President CA Nil Bahadur Saru Magar appreciated the initiative as a commendable effort to uplift financially deprived students and also emphasized exploring further partnership opportunities ahead. President of Lions Club of Kathmandu CA, CA Prachanda Dhoj Karki, shared that this agreement marks a significant step in strengthening the role of the CA profession in social responsibility and community service. The ceremony was also attended by representatives from Lions Club of Kathmandu CA including CA Tej Prasad Subedi, CA Subash Acharya, CA Bharat Subedi, Bibek Thapa and Executive Director of ICAN, members of Scholarship Selection Sub-Committee and senior officials from ICAN.

Bursary Agreement with ICAEW Foundation

The Institute entered into a Bursary Agreement with the ICAEW Foundation on 17^th March 2026. Under this agreement, the Institute will receive a total funding of £36,300 over a period of four years. The funds are designated to support bursaries for students pursuing Chartered Accountancy education, specifically benefiting 10 students at the Foundation level and 5 students at the Application level.

Expanding Role as Government’s Partner for Economic Prosperity and Elevating Global Standing

Membership of Chartered Accountants Worldwide

The Institute has obtained Membership of Chartered Accountants Worldwide (CAW). ICAN is the 16^th Member Institute of CAW. ICAN is pleased to be part of this global network and looks forward to contributing to CAW’s mission of strengthening collaboration and unity within the chartered accountancy profession across borders.

Participation in SAFA Board and Committee Meeting

CA Prabin Kumar Jha, Vice-President, SAFA and Council Member ICAN along with Council Members RA Pradeep Kumar Yadav and Mr. Than Prasad Pangyani, and Executive Director CA Bimal Dangol attended SAFA Board and various SAFA Committee Meetings held on 16^th and 17^th January 2026 in Dhaka, Bangladesh hosted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh.

Participation in South Asian Federation of SAFA Board Meeting

CA Prabin Kumar Jha, Vice President, SAFA and Council Member, ICAN attended the SAFA Board Meeting hosted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on 29^th January 2026 in Greater Noida, India.

Participation in World Forum of Accountants (WOFA)

A delegation from ICAN comprising of CA Prabin Kumar Jha, SAFA Vice-President and Council Member along with ICAN officials Ms. Samita Dongol & CA Yangchen Lama participated in World Forum of Accountants (WOFA) organized by ICAI from 30^th January to 1^st February 2026 in India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida,India.

Official Visit to United Arab Emirates

A delegation from ICAN led by Mr Binod Prasad Neupane, Administrative Director, ICAN visited the UAE from 20^th to 25^th February 2026. The objective of visit was to explore the establishment of the ICAN UAE Chapter, facilitate ICAN Membership Examinations for Nepali Chartered Accountants working in the UAE, and promote ICAN’s First Campus Placement Program by connecting with UAE-based corporate houses and professional firms.

Ensuring Operational Resilience and Sustainability

29^th Anniversary Celebration

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal celebrated its 29^th anniversary on 2082 Magh 17 (corresponding to 31^st January 2026), in the gracious presence of Finance Minister, Mr. Rameshwor Khanal as Chief Guest of the program. The program was chaired by CA Nil Bahadur Saru Magar, President, ICAN whereby Hon’ble Auditor General, Mr. Toyam Raya and Financial Comptroller General, Mr. Shobha Kanta Poudel addressed the program as Special Guest.

The program started with a welcome speech from the CA Bimal Dangol, Executive Director, whereby he welcomed guests and participants in the program and shared the major initiatives of ICAN during FY 2024/25 along with ongoing projects of ICAN.

Following the welcome remarks, CA Nil Bahadur Saru Magar delivered a speech outlining the Council's strategic vision for the upcoming year. He placed emphasis on ICAN’s leadership in fostering economic development and job creation through the Global Accounting Initiative in Nepal (GAIN) Project and Campus Placement Project. Furthermore, he stated the Institute's commitment to strategic collaboration, highlighted by various Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with key stakeholders including Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), the National Cooperative Regulatory Authority (NCRA), and Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO).

Addressing the program, Financial Comptroller General, Mr. Shobha Kanta Poudel congratulated ICAN on its 29^th Anniversary and stressed on the role of Professional Accountants in strengthening Nepal’s financial services sector. He also emphasized on collaborative relationship between ICAN and Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO), and significance of MoU signed between ICAN and FCGO.

Likewise, speaking in the program, Hon’ble Auditor General, Mr. Toyam Raya emphasized the necessity of ICAN’s robust regulatory oversight. He highlighted the critical role of auditing across both the public and private sectors, specifically advocating for the increased engagement of ICAN members by the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) in public sector audits. Furthermore, Mr. Raya stressed the importance of conducting performance audits and urged the integration of advanced information technology including Artificial Intelligence (AI)—while maintaining stringent data security protocols within accounting and auditing practices.

Addressing the program, Finance Minister Mr. Rameshwor Khanal, congratulated ICAN for its achievement over the period of 29 years and stressed on the role of Professional Accountants in strengthening the Nepal’s Public Financial Management (PFM) especially in areas of revenue reforms and effective taxation system development. In this occasion, he shared that Government is considering for induction of Chartered Accountants through creation of posts for CA in civil service. Besides, he praised ICAN’s initiatives in launching GAIN project and emphasized on development of large scale accounting and audit firms in Nepal that are capable of delivering potential for exporting IT-enabled accounting services at international level from Nepal.

The Employee Union of the Institute also organized Inter-Regulator Friendly Futsal Tournament on 16^th and 17^th January 2026 during celebrations of 29^th Anniversary of ICAN. Team from Inland Revenue Department were the Winners of the tournament whereby, Team of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal secured the Runners-up position in the tournament. In addition, the Employee Union of the Institute also provided Letter of Appreciation to Mr. Omkar Shrestha and Mr. Jenish Prajapati for their support in ICAN’s Information Technology and Photography related service respectively.

The program concluded with closing remarks of CA Ananda Raj Sharma Wagle, Vice-President, ICAN whereby he expressed his vote of thanks to the chief guest, special guests, guests, employees, journalists, and all participants and formally concluded the Institute’s Annual Anniversary Celebration program. Over 200 participants including members and stakeholders attended the program.

ICAN Through the Years: A Reflection Discussion

The Institute organized a reflection discussion session with the Past President and professionals reviewing its remarkable journey from the formation of the Institute through the collective support of all stakeholders to its strong and dynamic position today. The session highlighted the changing perception of Chartered Accountants, particularly in Public Finance, and reflected on how early challenges were overcome to build a resilient and respected professional body.

Speakers emphasized the significant contribution of senior members, the capabilities and growing impact of the younger generation of CAs, and the strong educational foundation of the CA qualification. The discussion also focused on integrating technology into the profession, the increasing use of AI, and the ongoing digitization initiatives within ICAN. The meeting served as an opportunity to honor the past, recognize the present achievements, and collectively envision a progressive, technology-driven future for the profession.

New IPSAS Standard Helps Governments Account for Tangible Natural Resources Held for Conservation

The International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB) has issued a new IPSAS Standard to address the need for guidance: IPSAS 51, Tangible Natural Resources Held for Conservation. IPSAS 51 introduces new, public sector-specific accounting guidance on accounting for natural resources with physical substance, such as land, trees, and water, often held by governments to preserve or protect them. Amendments to Greenhouse Gas Emissions Disclosures (Amendments to IFRS S2)
